Alex Brown's 2011 Big Board: Week 7

7 Weeks into the swing of College Football, and with the release of the BCS Standings just this past week, I have decided to wipe away my board and reconstruct a new one, based on my feel for each of said players. Some players like Kerrigan and Cameron Jordan have made drastic leaps, and some like Solder and Bailey have made huge falls, nevertheless I am determined to remain objective in my analysis of prospects.

In the coming weeks, I will devise a new, unique way to evaluate these players, however I am still in a working progress. I am new to this so give me time, however I am focused on setting myself as a scout, not a writer; a evaluator, not a syndicator. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions on how to go about blogging my scouting efforts. Thanks again and enjoy...

  1. What do you think of DE/OLB Aldon Smith from Missouri? I recently watched him, he looks pretty legit. I want to see how he will do this weekend in a big game against Oklahoma.

  2. I only saw the Colorado game from him and a tad bit from the A&M game, but I am so excited to see him against a solid team. He made Solder look bad, getting him off balance and really putting some doubt in my thoughts for Solder; thats another story.

Hes very disruptive and has long arms; works well off the edge. He is actually recovering from a leg injury, but Pinkel has stated he is good to go. Smith runs a 4.69 40time...pretty amazing, and he's 6'5 255 lbs. could add some weight for sure. He is only a sophomore I believe, but his quick first step is eye-catching for sure.

Look for OU to get him second guessing with screen plays to their playmakers (broyles and demarco murray), and it will be interesting to see if he can generate a consistent pass rush on landry.

When faced with pressure Landry falls apart, his footwork is shoddy under pressure. So yeah I will definitely take a close look at him tomorrow.

It seems there are a lot of "good" not great young defensive lineman in this draft. I am trying to find out which I like the best at this point going forward, but for now its between clayborn and bowers. Bowers with the edge. We got 365+ page views today! What happened????? Unbelievable huh?
